McQuilling Partners, Inc. would like to announce the retirement of our dear friend and colleague Paul Famighetti, head of McQuilling’s Operations Department.  Paul has been an integral part of our company for the last 41 years.  His contributions will always be valued and remembered, and his hard work, commitment, and dedication are worthy of admiration.  We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Thank you to all who attended the McQuilling Services - JBC Energy City Briefing in London this June, it was a great success!  McQuilling Services shared views on the Crude and Product Tanker Market Outlook with focus on US crude exports and OPEC production cuts altering trade flows, the future growth of the global tanker fleet and expectations of freight rates and earnings through 2022.  JBC Energy presented their outlook on global crude/product balances, pricing and differentials in the context of current and future geopolitics, while discussing the potential implications, solutions and pitfalls for the upcoming IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap regulation.  Our collaboration with JBC Energy continues to bring real value to our clientele and we plan to continue these efforts through unique events such as this.   

Every year, shipping participants from across all segments of the industry gather in Athens, the home of Greek shipping, for Posidonia week.  This year, was no different as throughout the first week of June, industry leaders shared their views at seminars, companies exhibited their products and services at the Metropolitan Expo and attendees held meetings and participated in various events.  McQuilling took this opportunity to host our 2018 Posidonia Celebration at the En Plo, attended by a variety of clients from around the globe.  Thank you all who participated and for those who could not attend, we hope to see you there in 2019!

The McQuilling Garden City, New York office participated in the 2017 Angel Tree program again this year.  The program, organized by the Salvation Army, provides presents to disadvantaged boys and girls during the holiday season.  This year, McQuilling sponsored 70 children and the gifts were picked up by the Salvation Army on December 14^th.  This year marks our fourth year of participating in this program, helping less fortunate children have a very special holiday.

McQuilling Dubai held their annual luncheon on November 8, 2017.  The event was well attended by industry participants and McQuilling personnel.

McQuilling Services recently released the 2016 Mid-Year Tanker Market Outlook Update, which provides a review of the January Tanker Market Outlook as well as an updated forecast for the balance of 2016 through 2020 based on market conditions in the first half of the year.  Findings from the report can be found below. 

On May 25, 2016, the Director of McQuilling Services Singapore, Ms. Katharine Cheong-Koh, gave a presentation on the Global Chemical Tanker Outlook at the 2016 Intertanko Annual General Meeting in Capella Sentosa in Singapore.  The presentation focused on evolving chemical tanker trading lanes, the regional competitive landscape and identified investment opportunities for this sector over the next few years. 

On Monday of this week, the completed environmental impact assessment for the Empresa de Docagens Pedra do Ingá (EDPI) ship repair yard project was submitted to the Paraíba state environmental agency, SUDEMA.  This report, the “Estudo de Impacto Ambiental/Relatório de Impacto Ambiental” (Study of Environmental Impacts/Report of Environmental Impacts, called the EIA/RIMA) was produced in accordance with the requirements to receive environmental licenses for the construction of the new ship repair yard.

The Empresa de Docagens Pedra do Ingá ship repair yard to be located in Lucena, Paraíba represents a major infrastructure project in Brazil that will create a world-class facility standing beside the top ship repair installations in the world today.  From an ideal location proximate to major shipping lanes, the EDPI yard will deliver high quality, reliable repair and drydocking services to the global merchant fleet.
